Orgasm And How To Nearly Fake It

Whoa! Whoa! Before you stop reading coz you think this is an ADULT post, wait. It most definitely is not. I’m referring to one of the most popular and iconic blush from the makeup company Nars. Orgasm. Yup, that’s the name. Feel a little bit embarrased saying it. Me too! But then, Nars has other products with names like Sex Appeal, Deep Throat, Super Orgasm, Gold Member. So it’s safe to say that Nars prefers naming its products like adult movies. Hehehe. It may be risque but it’s an excellent marketing technique to publicise your products.

Not that a product like Orgasm needs such sort of publicity. Ever since it has been launched, Orgasm is said by many to be the holy grail of blushes. Just like Urban Decay’s Naked palette is referred to as the holy grail of eyeshadows. When I heard about this product, I didn’t know what the fuss was about. Until I went online and researched it. This particular blush has been raved by so many people online, that I decided to buy on a hunch. And I am happy to say, that I am proud I went with my instinct.

This is what NARS has to say about the product

The ultimate authority in blush, NARS offers the industry’s most iconic shades for cheeks. Natural, healthy-looking color that immediately enlivens the complexion. A light application of even the highest-intensity hues delivers a natural-looking flush.

  • Silky texture in matte and shimmering shades
  • Micronized powder ensures soft, blendable application
  • Iconic NARS shades

For some reason, the ingredients of the product is not listed on the website. But you can see them in the pictures below.

Let’s start with the packaging. It comes in a small cardboard package with the name NARS on the front and ingredients on the back. The actual case of the blush has an outer rubberized texture. Now this felt a bit weird to me, because, generally the covers are either plastic or metallic. But rubber? That’s a first. However, this is actually an advantage. Because of the rubberized cover, the blush is protected from falls or accidentally getting crushed in your overcrowded handbag.

When you open the cover, is when you see the gorgeous color of this blush. It has a sizable mirror on one end, ideal to check touch ups. The color has just the right sort of universal appeal that will suit all skin colors. A perfect blend of peachy pink golden shimmer. It’s a beautiful color for summertime. The saying A little goes a long way, applies here justly. Orgasm is so pigmented and rich with color that one needs to apply it with a light hand as the color transfer is almost instant with a little product. It comes on the cheeks as a light peachy pink and the golden shimmer just helps to highlight the cheek bones. You can always build the color but I think that for light skin tones, a little is enough.

The only downside to this product, is the price. It costs nearly $30 and that is a bit expensive for a blush. You get 4.8 gms of product, but it will last you a long time. Also, NARS is not available in UAE. I don’t know why, but I think it has something to do with the names of the products. So, it’s really difficult to get products from this brand. I did find an online shopping website that stocks NARS and also does free international delivery. I plan to get some more blushes from this brand. I got Orgasm from a local online seller She will also order it for you if the product is unavailable.

Now, if you feel that No-Way-Hosey am I paying 30 bucks for a blush, don’t despair. As with every popular products, dupes are created by drugstore brands galore. The product that I am referring to here is from an online brand, Sleek Makeup’s Rose Gold. This in my opinion is a close dupe to NARS Orgasm.

Rose Gold costs just $5.99 plus shipping (rates are decided as per your location, but it’s not much). This product is only available online. But it is available from time to time on a couple of local UAE shopping websites like and

The ingredients of this blush as listed by their website

Mica, Talc, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Pentaerythrityl Teraisostearate, Nylon-12, Magnesium Stearate, Jojoba Esters, Dimethicone, Polyethylene, Phenoxyethanol and Chloroxylenol. May contain: [+/- CI. 77891, CI. 15850, C1 45410, CI. 77360, CI. 19140, CI. 15985, CI. 77492, CI. 77491, CI. 77499 CI 77742].

What the website has to say about Rose Gold

Highly pigmented blushers to brighten and define cheekbones, available in 10 shades. These silky-fine and long lasting blushers create a subtle and radiant glow and suit all skin tones.

The packaging is a sturdy plastic, sleek in design and touch. Opening the case is a problem beacuse of the smoothness of the cover and I’m scared at times that the blush will slip from my hands. There is a mirror inside on one end, handy for application. The other end holds 8gms of blush. So, you’re getting more product for less cost, compared to NARS Orgasm

This is also a pretty shade for all skin tones, especially Indian skin. It looks coral-y pink with golden shimmer. The texture is smooth and color quite pigmented.

Now for the comparison. The real question is, Whether Rose Gold is good enough to give Orgasm a miss?

In my opinion (and I mean it, these are just my thoughts), Rose Gold is a really good blush in itself but it’s not the same as Orgasm. Texture wise both are smooth, easy to apply and blend. Both give a pretty glow to the cheeks. When I swatch these two, Rose Gold looks more opaque then Orgasm and seems to give a richer color. However, when I apply Orgasm, the color shows instantly on my cheeks, whereas with Rose Gold, the golden shimmer is more prominent and I have to apply a couple of times for the color to show up. Both have the gold shimmer, but I find Rose Gold to be more shimmery.

Orgasm when applied looks more pink, whereas Rose Gold looks more coral-y and less pink. The wear time for Orgasm is good. I remember, I wore it at a party and when I came home after 6 hours, the color had faded, but I could still tell that I had applied blush. With Rose Gold, the color disappears after a couple of hours and only the shimmer remains, giving the idea that a highlighter has been applied.

Again I must say, this is how these blushes work for me. For others, it may work totally different.

All in all, buy the Rose Gold because it’s a gorgeous color, more product, less price. But if you can save and buy that one blush that you will cherish, it has to be Orgasm.

Also, there are other really close drugstore dupes of Orgasm that you can check out. Like NYX’s Pinched,  Milani’s Luminous and Wet N Wild’s Pearlesant Pink.

So, how did you guys like these blushes? Pretty, right? Let me know your thoughts.

In the end, I would like to mention that with Ramadan approaching in a few days, I will be less regular on my blog. However, I will try my best to take out time and post some stuff. But you guys stay regular with my blog. Lots of love.
